The park hosts two-thirds of the world’s Great One-horned Rhinoceroses Kaziranga and boasts the highest density of tigers among protected areas in the world and was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006. The park is home to large breeding populations of elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer. Kaziranga is recognized as an Important Bird Area by Birdlife International for conservation of avifaunal species. Compared to other protected areas in India, Kaziranga has achieved notable success in wildlife conservation. Located on the edge of the Eastern Himalaya biodiversity hotspot, the park combines high species diversity and visibility.In 1985, Kaziranga was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its unique natural environment Kaziranga has witnessed several natural and human-made calamities in recent decades.

Bihu dance

The Bihu dance (Assamese: বিহু নৃত্য, Hindi: बिहू नृत्य) is a folk dance from the Indian state of Assam related to the festival of Bihu. This joyous dance is performed by both young men and women, and is characterized by brisk dance steps,and rapid hand movement. Dancers wear traditionally colorful Assamese clothing. Dhol(Drum),Pepa(Horn),Gagana are the musical instrument used in this dance.

Rhino in Pobitora Wildlife sanctuary in Morigaon District of Assam. The place have recently been declared as the largest habitat of one horned Rhino. The forest department have recently done a lot to revive the place. The other attractions are the Hanging bridge over the river which runs through the Sanctuary. A small children park, restaurants(Zezina, Prashanti etc)
